Triads

Triads are small, simple groups of 2-3 people of the same gender who meet regularly to encourage, disciple and share the gospel with one another.

Philosophy of Triads

At Global Church, Triads are a means to integrate the value of Organic Discipleship among believers. In the past, the American church has relied heavily on a "programmatic" approach to discipleship that focuses on memorizing scripture, studying massive amounts of literature or listening to take home audio teachings.

We believe that biblical discipleship as modeled by Jesus is a "life-on-life" process that every believer is called to. While we do believe that making disciples involves disciple-makers, we don't believe that disciple-makers are an elite group of people in the church. Simply said, we believe that every disciple of Jesus Christ is called to make disciples.

The question is, "How then do we make disciples?" We make disciples by calling one another to the discipline of discipleship. Discipleship is the process of becoming more like Jesus.

To organize a Triad, you need at least one person who is committed to disciple making. The end goal of the Triad is to cultivate an ethos of Organic Discipleship amongst everyone in the group. Once the group grows to four people, group multiplication takes place. The Triad splits into two groups of two and each group looks for a Third disciple and the process repeats.

How Triads Work

Triads should be small, simple, biblical, reproducible, and missional. No more than 3 people to a group. When the group grows to 4 people, (it is important that the newest member participate long enough to get the idea) the group multiplies into two groups of two and begins looking for a third disciple to form the new Triad.

Bible

Each Triad should have a "facilitator" that chooses a biblical text to study for the group to meditate on in between meetings. The group should ask the Holy Spirit to draw their attention to whatever He desires them to know. The Spirit may prompt group members to repent of sin, rejoice in the gospel, or meditate on a biblical truth.

Theology

The Triad should work through the Scriptures in community with one another. The group should seek biblical understanding of the Gospel in each text, remembering that Scripture leads us to Christ.

Life

In a healthy Triad, life struggles and sin issues will surface. It is in this safe environment that these issues should be discussed, prayed for and repented of in order to grow as a follower of Christ. Transparency and accountability will enrich the life of each Triad member, drawing everyone closer to each other and most importantly, closer to Christ.
